9/20/18 – Please Note: The Lu’au Moana Aloha is currently on hiatus. Check back here for updates on its return.
Get ready to cross “authentic Kauai luau” off your bucket list.
Koloa Landing Resort is unveiling the best luau in Kauai yet starting in June 2018. This all-new, soulful spectacle can be found under the stars with fluttering tiki torches and swaying palms on the resort’s main lawn overlooking the ocean. Guests can relax and be entertained in the soft ocean breezes with the South Shore sunset stretching out beyond the stage.
Luau Moana Aloha is a captivating journey through the history of Poipu’s famous cove and environs, “Koloa Landing.” The story also honors the islands’ last and perhaps most-loved prince, Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana‘ole, who moved mountains for his people and spearheaded the passage of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act during his reign. The region’s culture and heritage come to life through music, costume, cuisine, and dance.
The award-winning Mākaha Sons, Kumu Hula, and Grammy-nominated recording artist Leilani Rivera Low of Halau Hula ‘O Leilani, all come together in a magical show of hula kahiko, hula auana, Tahitian, Maori and Tongan dances with talented musicians, dynamic drummers, and beautiful costumes. Low, who was born and raised on Kauai, has been teaching Hawaiian and Polynesian dance for 38 years and her experience shows. She helped create an educational and yet intimate family luau featuring an array of men and women from her hula school. The results are a Kauai luau that is nothing less than dazzling.
Guests will also be awed by the buffet, as the luau offers an extraordinary feast conceived by James Beard Award-winning celebrity Iron Chef and native son, Sam Choy. Featuring local specialties from the Kauai coastline, farms, and sea, the dishes are created with fresh tropical ingredients and all with Choy’s signature flavor profiles. Silken ahi poke, roasted sweet potatoes, coconut confections and white Sugarloaf pineapple are just a few of the goodies that one might luck upon on a given night. Guests will be talking about the cuisine long after the dessert plates have been cleared. Hand-crafted cocktails and champagne are at the ready, of course.
While at Koloa Landing, locals and travelers can take a closer look at the resort which features the largest accommodations on Kauai, Sam Choy’s Holo Holo Grill, a world class spa, ocean view gym, marketplace and 3 spectacular pools — including a multi-tiered swim-tacular that the Los Angeles Times hailed as “one of the best pools in the Hawaiian Islands” — in addition to the best luau in Kauai now. Koloa Landing Resort is known for its genuine hospitality, impeccable service and inspired innovation in a breathtaking tropical setting.
