Sunset Reflection

You and your brand-new husband are sitting on the world-famous Sunset Wall at the edge of Koloa Landing Resort, where destination weddings happen. It’s 5:40pm, and the peach-and-fuchsia sky is starting to deepen in color as the sun melts on the horizon. It’s the day after your wedding and most of your guests have already gone home, leaving you two to enjoy your honeymoon at this magnificent resort without the need to repack even a toothbrush.

“Wow,” he whispers as the sun disappears.

“Mmm hmm,” you say, leaning your head on his shoulder.

You sit in silence, taking in the view and marveling at the fact that you are now actually and finally married to the love of your life, and how wonderfully well your ceremony and your reception went here at Koloa Landing. In fact, it still amazes you that your wedding was really that beautiful . . . that much fun . . . and that meaningful.

You cannot wait to see the photos.

Destination Elation: Kauai’s Majestic Beauty

Kauai is a sparkling Pacific jewel and a rare visual feast: Turquoise waters on white sand, the towering emerald cliffs of Napali, the red-painted depths of Waimea Canyon. Most of Kauai is accessible only on foot, by boat, or by helicopter, keeping the island truly pristine. With temperate climates, a relaxed elegance, and photo-ready backdrops everywhere you turn, Kauai is a bride and groom’s dream.

You’d looked at a few Kauai wedding venues but the moment you saw the South Shore’s spectacular Koloa Landing Resort you knew it was for you as it embodies everything you love about Kauai — its history, natural beauty, and, above all, romance.

Home to much-celebrated Poipu Beach, the sunny South Shore is beloved for its miles of coastline, year-round temperate climate, and the best sunset watching on the island — right here at the Koloa Landing Sunset Wall. The South Shore also offers the most dining and shopping options on Kauai — not to mention an abundance of adventure for your guests looking to kick up the fun-factor. Kauai zip lining through a rainforest, anyone?

An Affair to Remember

You were thrilled to hold your ceremony on the resort’s sun-filled Ocean Lawn with its breathtaking view of the Pacific spreading before you like a promise. (Your guests loved the convenience of getting ready in their villas and stepping down the short path to the big event.) You fell in love with the uniquely Hawaiian details: The traditional kahuna pule wedding officiant, the heralding of the conch shell, and the custom his-and-hers ti leaf and orchid leis all made this feel like a truly unforgettable affair.

After you strolled back up the aisle — now as a married couple, with everyone hooting and hollering their approval — everyone moved easily to the reception just up the path past the show-stopping “Best Pool in America” to the tiki-torch-lit Garden Lawn. The party launched into full swing in the Koloa Ballroom with its sweeping 17-foot-high ceilings, elegant tablescapes, and dazzling Hawaiian feast. The floor-to-ceiling glass doors onto the massive lanai let your guests enjoy the swaying palms, warm breeze, and festive music both inside and out. This slice of paradise was all yours.

Let Go, Let Koloa

Several of your guests remarked on the impeccable service and warmth of the resort’s staff. Kauai’s South Shore locals are some of the most genuinely friendly people you have ever encountered, and the Koloa Landing staff’s aloha hospitality made all the difference. Throughout preparations and your big day, you felt surprisingly at ease from start to finish thanks to the seamless efforts of the resort’s wedding director, Rita Moore, and her next-level team. “In Kauai, couples get to experience the quiet splendor and romantic solitude without distraction,” said Moore. “We love to see couples relax and get to know each other, be present with each other without too many larger island, city distractions.”

Here, Now and Forever

And now, relaxing here on Koloa Landing’s Sunset Wall, you are reaping the post-wedding benefits together. In fact, as you watch the sun disappear on the horizon, and you say goodbye to your first full day as a married couple, you cannot imagine being anywhere but right here on this island, enjoying this view with this person.

Cheers to a lifetime together!
