Before year’s end, Emmy award winning Chef Sam Zien, “The Cooking Guy”, is visiting the island of Kauai, and Koloa Landing® Resort, where he’ll be filming a week’s worth of The Sam Livecast episodes, showcasing local ingredients and signature Hawaiian style recipes. Local chef Peter Merriman, of Merriman’s restaurants, will be showcased on one of these episodes, bringing even more great recognition to our little slice of Hawaiian heaven here at Poipu Beach.
Merriman’s has grown into a burgeoning chain across the Hawaiian islands, with five different locations. That includes Merriman’s Fish House, located in Kukui’ula Village, just a quick stroll from the Koloa Landing® Resort property. It’s one of the best and most highly rated restaurants on the island of Kauai, and it’s a frequent destination for our guests looking for a full-service dining experience, whether it’s a romantic night, a fun group of friends, or an unforgettable family dinner.
At Merriman’s Fish House, at least 90% of the ingredients used are locally grown or caught, with an emphasis on sustainable farming and fishing, and a true farm to table philosophy. The restaurant is a great mix of elegant while still being casual and aloha-friendly, and they also have pristine ocean and mountain views, and sunset gazing, and have both a casual downstairs cafe and an upstairs premium bar.
Chef Merriman has become one of the signature chefs of Hawaiian cuisine for the past two decades. He has been a James Beard finalist three separate times, and became known as the “Pied Piper of Hawaii Regional Cuisine” by The Los Angeles Times.
Koloa Landing® Resort teamed up to with The Sam Livecast, and online store We Olive, to host a special contest offering individuals the chance to win a stay with us here at the resort and take in the tapings of The Sam Livecast episodes being shot.
